Job Description
Marketing & Sales

The role will work alongside the Directors and the marketing/communications consultant to focus on new business leads. The process will begin with compelling and thorough research of potential new clients or sectors. Then it will move on to having initial conversations with those clients by phone, email, social media and beginning to build relationships. As the relationships progress and grow, the Directors will join the conversations and continue to develop the sales process.

The successful candidate will be brought into the team, given the opportunity to learn about how the business works, what design projects we work on and will have exposure to all parts of the business building strong relationships internally. This will allow the Business Development Manager / Executive to develop the knowledge and passion they need to go and promote the business. We are looking for long term relationships, really getting to know clients from the outset. This role will be key to growing and developing potential new clients.

The scope of the Business Development role is nationwide and as such the successful candidate will be office based with some flexible home working and with travel to clients as and when required.

Responsibilities
  • Learn all aspects of the business

  • Researching potential clients collating in depth information
  • Actively research growth industries and sectors
  • Analyse market and establish competitive advantages
  • Initiate and develop new business opportunities, recording all opportunities accurately
  • Keeping the directors up to date with progress on a regular basis
  • Building relationships and rapport with potential clients by phone, email, social media
  • Develop those relationships and bring the Directors in to conversation as things progress
  • Continuing to build information on the company and their potential needs
  • Working alongside the Directors once a formal sales process is initiated to ensure its followed through to close.
  • Working with our Marketing & Socials Team to build lead generation campaigns.
  • Supporting the execution and monitoring the performance of annual business plans to ensure that budget targets are met, revenue flows are maximised, and that cream & black reaches its objectives as cost-effectively and efficiently as possible.
  • prepare weekly/monthly status updates for management
  • Research tools to include LinkedIn, internet, social media, and other resources.
  • From time to time you may be required to carry out other reasonable tasks assisting the Directors and Design team as and when required.
Qualifications
  • Experience from a similar or related position in a design and/or architecture company
  • Proven experience in prospecting and developing new business, and strong ability to transition prospects to clients
  • Knowledge of procurement processes in the public and private sector
  • Degree in either marketing, business, PR, architecture, and/or design, or other relevant qualification with a strong interest in business development
  • Positive outlook, motivated, driven and results orientated.
  • Passionate and enthusiastic
  • Experience of working as part of a team in a sales/business development environment
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Good organisation & time management skills – able to prioritise work
  • Ability to balance a varied workload and prioritise key activities
  • Track record of building and developing relationships
  • Strong research skills

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Confident and excellent interpersonal skills and charismatic personality
  • Willing to take ownership of given tasks
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite (particularly InDesign, Illustrator and PhotoShop)
  • Strong graphic design and marketing skills
  • Experience with CRM software is a plus
  • A proven sales background, confident performing market research, developing new business strategies and reporting
